Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore & BioBlitz
Students from a middle school science class trek through the grasses of the Indiana Dunes in search of insects. This girl is grossed outby a tick found and captured in a special homemade viewing container made out of a film canister. This Indiana Dunes State Park BioBlitz was a 24-hour event in which teams of scientists, volunteers, and community members joined forces to find, identify, and learn about as many local plant and animal species as possible. Bioblitzes are a way for communities, students, and scientists to get hands-on experiences and field research to better understand the nature in their own backyards and find way to better appreciate and protect it.
