The Polar Plunge is an annual fundraising event in Chicagoland, raising funds for Special Olympics and Special Children's Charities. Participants often dress in costumes as they leap in to the frigid 34 degree waters of Lake Michigan. Similar events are held around the country, benefiting Special Olympics.
